Kimmy Gabriela Stuns With Ariana Grande Cover on ‘Idol’: Watch

Kimmy Gabriela doesn’t need a stage, or an audience. The American Idol contestant performed Sunday night for the new-look, at-home format. And she totally took it to the “next level” with a performance of an Ariana Grande hit.

The teen singer from Lakeland, Florida looked down the camera and delivered the goods with a cover of Ari’s “Leave Me Lonely”. She knew it was a good one, as family members rushed to her for congratulatory hugs and kisses.

“I feel like you’ve done a little character evolution since we’ve been apart, since Hawaii,” said Katy Perry, who has undergone her own character evolution as she gave her critique while dressed as a giant bottle of hand sanitizer. “You are starting to know who you are.”

“Great job,” said Luke Bryan, who describes her as a “world class” singer. “What I think is really impressive is how well you navigate your notes.”

Lionel Richie paid tribute to her attitude. “You had me on the edge of my emotions,” he said, “You took it to the next level.”
